The Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation (DHAF) promotes a more peaceful, equitable Somalia by providing healthcare, education, shelter and access to sanitation to hundreds of displaced families.

For more than 30 years, DHAF operated Hope Village, where we offered care and community to thousands of displaced Somalis, independent of their clan, gender, religious and political affiliation. Amidst continuing political and security issues in Somalia, Hope Village provided a sanctuary for hundreds of Somali families. It also served as a hub for innovation in the fields of Healthcare, Agriculture, Sanitation, Education and Governance. The Hope Village school continues to provide generations of Somali children with innovative education in a caring and supportive environment.

Watch the story of Hope Village and its founder, the esteemed doctor and humanitarian, Dr. Hawa Abdi.

DHAF is an independent non-profit organization that is registered as 501(c)(3) charitable organization in the United States. We are one of the oldest NGOs operating inside of Somalia, and over the last 30 years, hundreds of thousands of Somalis have come under our care. In Hope Village and beyond, we have worked to create sustainable projects that can be carried out by Somalis for Somalis.
